The Natural Family Planning (NFP) program in the Lincoln Diocese began in 1974. Four diocesan teaching centers were established and Monsignor Pleskac served as Diocesan Director. The NFP office was once part of Catholic Social Services. In 1992, it came under the direction of the Family Life Office.
One type of NFP offered is through the FertilityCare Center Diocese of Lincoln. The Creighton Model FertilityCare System (CrMS) is a natural fertility care teaching system that does not require the use of harsh chemicals, devices or surgical procedures. Couples using the Creighton Model System (CrMS) can easily learn to recognize and accurately identify signs of fertility by observing the natural phases of the menstrual cycle. FertilityCare provides couples with an appreciation and understanding of their reproductive potential. Couples can then choose to use this system to either to achieve or to postpone a pregnancy in a manner consistent with the moral standards of Christ's Church.
Using CrMS provides couples with the most effective means for achieving a pregnancy. It is also 99.6 percent effective for postponing pregnancy in the practice of responsible parenthood.
