School adds new technology

WAHOO (SNR) – Many teachers at St. Wenceslaus School in Wahoo recently purchased Apple TVs with “wish list” money and donations.

The diocesan Education Technology office installed the TVs Dec. 6.

An Apple TV projects what is displayed on an iPad, which will aid in classroom lessons.

Since the beginning of the school year, the school has used an iPad cart with 23 iPads, provided by the Education Technology office, for student use. With the Apple TVs in place, a teacher can project the display of one iPad to the TV for the whole class, for group instruction. The TVs can also play videos, access news stations, run slideshows, and more.

The school said the iPads have been in constant use since they were introduced, and donations have been received for apps for the iPads.

Shelley Palensky, fourth grade teacher, said she loves her classroom Apple TV.

“It has helped my fourth grade students be able to show their ideas and voice their thoughts by presenting it up on the smartboard through the Apple TV,” she said. “This new technology has opened so many doors for my students they are now able to become the teacher and express their ideas to their classmates.”

St. Wenceslaus School, which opened in 1910, currently serves more than 290 students in grades pre-K through 6.
