McCOOK (SNR) - Women from across the Lincoln Diocese are invited and encouraged to attend the 61st biennial convention of the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (LDCCW) April 13-14.
The LDCCW, under the direction of the diocesan bishop, provides for the spiritual and physical needs of others through prayer and action. The Council was founded in 1932 by Bishop Louis B. Kucera in an effort to unite all Catholic women in the diocese.
LDCCW President Terri Sullivan of Wallace chose “Doing Small Things with Great Love” as the theme for the convention.
The pre-convention banquet, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 308 E. 9th Street, McCook. Laura Buddenberg of Boy’s Town will present “Who Comes First?” – a talk about priorities and time management for Catholic families. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by “Fabulous Fannie” Martha Roe of McCook.
Saturday’s activities will be held in the basement of St. Patrick Church, 409 E. F St., with registration at 7:30 a.m.
Becky Deaver, formerly with “Go Forth Podcast” will talk on “The Big Lie that Keeps Us from Doing Small Things with Great Love,” at 10 a.m.
Bishop James Conley will celebrate Mass at 11 a.m.
Speaker Lorraine Pozehl will present “Intentional Disciples: Simple Ministry for the Journey” at 1 p.m.
Other activities of the day will include the presentation of burse and “Bishop’s Project” donations to Bishop Conley, presentation of the “President’s Project” by deanery presidents to Totus Tuus, a message from JoAnn Messing, the Omaha Province director, installation of officers, the business meeting and raffle drawings.
All are also invited to attend the noon meal Friday, April 13 followed by the LDCCW full board meeting which will start at 1 p.m.
Registration for the two-day convention is: Friday, April 13 noon meal $5; Friday evening, April 13 pre-convention banquet $25; Saturday, April 14 convention, $25.
