BEATRICE (SNR) – The funeral Mass for Father Michael Danko, a retired priest of the Diocese of Lincoln is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, March 5 at St. Joseph Church in Beatrice.

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz will be the principal celebrant. Father Danko died Feb. 27 in Springfield, Mo., where he resided in retirement. Father Danko served as pastor of St. Joseph Parish Beatrice for 23 years.

A native of Glen Lyon, Penn., Father Danko received his seminary training in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. He was ordained May 31, 1952 in St. John Cathedral in Milwaukee by Archbishop Moses Kiley.

He served as assistant pastor in Beatrice, David City and Dwight and was on the faculties of Aquinas High School in David City and Pius X High School in Lincoln. He also served as pastor of St. Francis, Center (rural David City), Brainard, Loma, Abie, Linwood and Davey.

He was appointed pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Beatrice in 1971. He retired from the active ministry in 1994 because of health problems.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Fox Funeral Home in Beatrice is in charge of arrangements.
