NEBRASKA CITY (SNR) – The Franciscan Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother in Nebraska City have begun another adult Scripture study with the goal of striving to understand more fully the vital role the Virgin Mary plays in salvation history.

Viewing “The Bible and the Virgin Mary,” a Scripture study series produced by St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, based on Dr. Scott Hahn’s popular book, “Hail, Holy Queen,” the Sisters said participants see the “Mary of doctrine and devotion” come alive in a powerful new way. Through a method called typology, Mary’s role as the New Eve, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Queen Mother, woven in the fabric of Sacred Scripture, is unveiled.

The study is held three times weekly at the Sisters’ convent to accommodate the active interest of so many.

In the future, the Sisters hope to hold their instructional classes at their new motherhouse for which they recently received an anonymous donation of $20,000, a gift that will help with the building costs.
