WAVERLY (SNR) – Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly will host a retreat with two nationally renowned lay evangelists, Tony Brandt and Chris Stewart.

The two will present “Disciples on a Mission: Discipleship, Evangelization and Stewardship” March 13-15.

The weekend retreat for men and women of all ages will be focused on three themes. The first is “The Challenge of Discipleship,” asking if the Lord challenges people to become missionary disciples.

The second theme, “Stewardship, the Complete Gift of Self” will explain how the Lord calls people to reach out as a gift to those around them.

The final theme, “Seven Pillars of Effective Evangelization,” will address how the greatest stewardship is one’s grateful response to the greatest gift the Lord has given each person, that of salvation.

Dr. Peter Martin, internship director of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, endorsed Brandt and Steward wholeheartedly.

“Both of these gentleman are salt of the earth and their many experiences can enrich your faith,” he said.

“They are intelligent, deeply faithful, and very engaging presenters that are certain to enrich your zeal for the faith, helping you have a balanced, overall perspective on how to better live discipleship,” said Martin, a member of St. Mary Parish in Denton.

Tony Ojeda, a parishioner at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln and a motivational speaker himself, also recommended the retreat.

“Tony Brandt and Chris Stewart do a great job of sharing and will inspire people to truly live out their faith,” he said.

Brandt, originally from Wahoo, lives in Wichita, Kan. He said his background, including being raised in a large adoptive family and helping people in need, allows him to inspire, challenge and entertain. He has been involved in many areas of parish ministry and teaching at both the high school and college levels.

Stewart also lives in Wichita. He has worked in youth ministry and teaching in elementary, high school, and college settings. Together the two co-host the radio show “Casting Nets with Tony & Chris” and now both work full-time with Casting Nets Ministries, castingnetsministries.com, leading souls to Christ and forming the laity for missionary discipleship.
