(SNR) - Nathan Seger, of Lincoln, began duties recently as diocesan director for stewardship and development.

Previously, Seger was director of planned giving for the University of Iowa Center for Advancement for more than four years. He practiced estate planning and probate law in Indiana, where he also taught in a Catholic school near Indianapolis.

The new director relocated to Lincoln from Iowa City with his wife, Katherine, and six children, age 11 to 1. Three attend St. Teresa Elementary School.

“Right now the main focus of stewardship and development is supporting the schools and the Good Shepherd Scholarship,” Seger said. The scholarship is for deserving individuals based on various qualifications including family size and need.

Since August, the former teacher has toured schools and met with administrators and teachers. He looks forward to visiting more. The director’s objectives include the continuing search to partner with individuals and corporations that know the value and positive impact of a faithful Catholic education.
