DAVID CITY – Aquinas Catholic Middle & High School in David City will install a new video board and scoreboard.
Installation of the 8’x15’ Daktronics LED Video BOARD featuring 3.9-millimeter line spacing in the south gym will start Oct. 30, to be ready for the 2020-21 basketball season. There will also be a new scoreboard installed in the north gym. Two large TV monitors will be installed above the concession stand to display items and prices, as well as business partner logos. The scoreboards will benefit the Aquinas Booster Club, and local business partners while cheering on the Aquinas Monarchs, and Aquinas students in multiple ways – even in the classroom.
Aquinas has multiple “Career Studies” courses for students, such as entrepreneurship, journalism, and computer apps. The Aquinas Building Trades Program builds a house each school year. The cabinetry throughout the house is built and designed by students using CAD Programming.
Teacher Tony Smith attended The Academy of Scholastic Broadcasting’s five-day workshop for broadcast and video teachers in Springfield, Mo., before adding “Introduction to Broadcasting” to the course list. By adding the Daktronics equipment, Introduction to Broadcasting students will be able to gain skills that directly translate to real-world industry applications. Daktronics supplies a curriculum designed to assist educators in planning, executing and engaging a course that introduces high school students to live event production.
