Q. I know Protestant choirs wear robes during their worship services. Can Catholic choirs wear robes if they choose?

A. Yes. I cannot think of any directive or Church document which would speak to this issue. I have seen choirs in large Catholic parishes wearing robes as well as various Vatican choirs donning robes.

I believe robes bring an air of dignity, uniformity and regalness to a choir’s appearance.

So if the parish can afford them, and the dry cleaning costs, it would be fine to have choir robes.
