LINCOLN - In 2019, the Diocese of Lincoln began the Good Shepherd Scholarship Fund to support Catholic families based on financial need and family size.

The scholarship provides direct support to families for tuition and technology fees. Many parents have expressed their appreciation for the Good Shepherd Scholarship.

“I have several testimonials from parents on my desk right now, describing appreciation for receiving a scholarship,” said Nathan Seger, development director of the Good Shepherd Scholarship. “Every parent testimonial I read describes how important an authentic, Catholic education is for their children and expresses sincere gratitude for the personal financial impact of receiving a scholarship.”

The scholarship application period generally begins in January, and families will soon be informed through their local Catholic schools the scholarship details for the 2021-2022 school year.

As the scholarship continues forward, several supporters in the diocese are speaking about its future importance.

“In the future, the Good Shepherd Scholarship will be identified as a ‘go-to place’ for people to participate in achieving financial solvency for Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Lincoln, especially through scholarship support for low-income and large Catholic families,” said Father Joseph Walsh, special assistant to the bishop for the promotion of Catholic stewardship.
