WAVERLY (SNR) - While the COVID-19 pandemic made many Christmas celebrations look different this year, Christmas at Villa Marie Home and School for Exceptional Children in Waverly was a true celebration.
Eighth-grade students of St. Michael School in Lincoln made Christmas special this year for Villa Marie students by providing each of them with a gift.
Celebrating Christmas with Villa Marie was the brainchild of St. Michael students who fundraised, planned, and delivered gifts to Villa Marie students. The eighth-graders raised more than $2,000 for the Christmas effort.
Each Villa Marie student received cookies, socks, games, and gingerbread house kits.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, Villa Marie students have been learning remotely, many from home.
Despite this, St. Michael students delivered the presents in person to Villa Marie School. Villa Marie students joined the St. Michael students virtually to exchange Christmas wishes and joy.
