Online retreat with Kendra Von Esh
WAVERLY (SNR) – Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly invites all to join Kendra Von Esh for an online day of retreat Saturday Jan. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. entitled “Finding Joy in Prayer.”
Von Esh is a Catholic speaker, faith coach, author, radio host and TV anchor. In her first talk, Kendra will share her testimony of returning to the Church, a raw and funny story of coming back to God and making her confession on Divine Mercy Sunday after 26 years.
“I was a corporate executive who had it all—high powered job, prestige, summer home, and fantastic family, friends and social life. I didn’t need God, nor did I have time for Him,” she described. “It is a story of the power of God’s grace, he can come, and overcome, no matter where you are on your journey.”
Her second talk will answer the question, ‘why should we pray?’ Von Esh explained, “Too often prayer is just a task to complete or a box I need to check. I want to help you find something more: how God wants to draw you into a relationship, he calls you to experience love, peace and joy,” she said.
“Do you struggle hearing the voice of God and with knowing how to pray?” Von Esh asked. “Do you desire a prayer life? Are you envious of how everyone else seems to be able to pray?”
The final talk, ‘why mental prayer?’ is an invitation to go even deeper in talking and listening to God. After making the decision to love God, topics include the how and why of meditation, learning to focus in prayer, and overcoming obstacles that block the graces he wants to give in abundance.
The online retreat includes three talks with time for questions. Registration is required to participate in the question and answer session and live streaming. A free-will donation is appreciated but not required. On-demand recordings will be available and registrants will receive two free bonus eBooks.
The story of Von Esh’s powerful reversion can be read in her book, “Am I Catholic?: A Struggle with Faith, Humility, and Surrendering to God.” Find more of her writings, video and audio at kendravonesh.com.
