LINCOLN (SNR) – “Camp Archangel” will resume at St. Michael School in Lincoln this summer.

“I am excited that we are offering unique learning experiences again this summer, said Emily Sellhorn, site coordinator for Camp Archangel. “The COVID-19 pandemic caused us to cancel Camp Archangel last summer, but we are back and ready for two weeks of fun and learning.”

Camp Archangel is a summer enrichment programming for all students entering grades 1-9, hosted by St. Michael School, 9101 S. 78th St. The school launched Camp Archangel in June 2019.

The dates for camp this year are June 7-11 and June 14-18. Each camp “session” is Monday through Friday, either 9 a.m. to noon, or 1 to 4 p.m. There are options for supervised lunch and early drop-off care. Weekday Mass is celebrated at 8:15 a.m. and all are welcome to start the day with Mass.

“I am so excited to do ‘Kids in the Kitchen’ at Camp Archangel this year. Camp Archangel is the most fun I’ve ever had!” said return camper Natalie Nelson.

“The classes offered at Camp Archangel are incredibly unique and fun,” said her mother Megan Nelson. “The kids have a blast with hands-on activities and come away with new knowledge and skills. My kids still talk about their first camp experience two years later.”

Kids can have an “Olympics Week” of their own this summer, become “Weather Warriors” and study everything from blue skies to natural disasters, “Animal Art,” “Mo Willems” and more.

“Kids get excited learning about animals,” said Maggie McDermott, a teacher at St. Michael School and Camp Archangel. “We have so much fun on our ‘“ROAR! Amazing African Animals.’”

Ms. McDermott’s Camp Archangel class will explore the savanna, desert, and rainforest discovering animals and their environments through crafts and games.

A “Frozen”-themed dance camp for boys and girls is a way to learn dance steps and get moving. The class will bring the story of “Frozen” to life through dancing, crafts, games and more.

Registration for Camp Archangel is online on the St. Michael Catholic School’s website: https://www.stmichaelmarauders.org/camp-archangel.html. All COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed as recommended by the Lancaster County Health Department.
