(SNR) – The Diocese of Lincoln is planning two events for young people and a supportive adult in their lives.
The events will be offered in person and virtually.
A father/son program will be presented for 10- to 14-year-old boys and their father or other supportive male adult Sunday, March 21, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the John XXIII Diocesan Center, 37th and Sheridan, Lincoln.
The father/son program explores God’s plan for growing up and becoming a man. Topics include the physical and emotional changes that accompany puberty, growth in virtue, a brief presentation of the functions of male and female reproductive systems, appreciation and reverence for the gift of sexuality, and a confidential question-and-answer segment.
The purpose of the program is to foster communication between parent and child. The program is presented by a physician and other men who have set high moral standards for themselves and their families. They will emphasize respect, strong character, integrity, understanding and appreciation for God’s gifts.
The cost to attend in person is $25 per father/son or $35 per family. The cost includes light refreshments and a gift. The cost to watch virtually is $10 (nonrefundable). For the virtual option, an email with instructions will be sent the week before the event.
To register, visit: https://lincolndiocese.regfox.com/fatherson. The event is open to the public, but preregistration is required.

A mother/daughter program will be presented for 10- to 13-year-old girls and their mother or other supportive female adult Sunday, March 28 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the John XXIII Diocesan Center.
The mother/daughter program is an opportunity for mothers and their daughters to explore God’s gift of human fertility and the beauty and wonder of growing up and becoming a woman. Topics include the changes in a young woman’s body as it prepares for motherhood; the onset of ovulation and subsequent menstrual periods; the functions of the female reproductive system; the sacredness of human life; the virtue of chastity; and a confidential question-and-answer segment.
The purpose of the program is to provide an atmosphere of love and learning to discuss the important topic of growing up, and to establish a foundation for continued communication between parent and child.
To register, visit: https://lincolndiocese.regfox.com/motherdaughter. The mother/daughter event is also open to the public, but reservations are required as seating is limited. In fact, early registration is suggested, as the event usually sells out. The cost of the event includes a gift for each girl. Light refreshments will be served.
The cost is $25 per child and mother or $35 per family, or $10 per virtual registration.
