Day event for mothers of high school juniors and older
LINCOLN (SNR) – The Family Life Office will host a day-long retreat for moms of high school juniors and older, called “I Know the Plans I Have For You: A day of grace for moms in a time of transition.”
The event will be held June 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be at the John XXIII Diocesan Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., as well as live-streamed virtually.
The retreat will be led by Father Christopher Goodwin and Shane Kennett, and will be a time of exploring the different facets of identity and prayer that are brought to light as a mother has children leaving home or has had children recently leave home as adults. It will focus on the themes of identity and how that changes and grows throughout motherhood, and also how to pray throughout times of transition, especially major life changes like kids leaving home.
Father Goodwin is pastor of St. Mary Parish in Davey. Shane Kennett is a member of St. Joseph Parish in Lincoln.
The retreat will include talks, time for prayer and adoration, time for community, Mass, and lunch. The cost is $35 to attend in person and $10 for virtual participants.
