In-person and online opportunities provided, recordings available throughout December
Waverly (SNR) – Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly has several Advent retreat opportunities available, both in-person and online.
Recordings of the online retreats will also be available throughout December.
“Just as Mary pondered many things in her heart while awaiting the birth of Jesus, so Advent can be a time for God to shine light into our lives,” said Father Gary Coulter, director of the retreat house.
The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies will present a retreat Dec. 3-5 with Vern and Chad Steiner and Joshua Burks, “Awaiting Emmanuel: On the ‘O Antiphons’ of Advent.”
Every Monday of Advent, Connie Rossini, Omaha author of “Trusting God with St. Thérèse,” will lead a 7 p.m. online Advent series, “Learning to Trust in God.” This series aims to help participants discover how to place their past, present, and future into His hands. It is held online only, and participants may join any single week, or all four.
Father Daniel Brandenburg of the Legionaries of Christ, author of many books and retreats, will offer a “Men’s Spiritual Exercises” with Regnum Christi Dec. 10-12. Men of all ages are invited to come early for a leadership formation day Dec. 10.
“Come Let Us Adore Him,” a 24-hour Advent/Christmas retreat will be Dec. 17-18, presented by Father Coulter. The retreat will offer meditations on the different persons in the story.
“Knowing the busyness that surrounds Christmas preparations,” Father Coulter explained, “I want to offer a one-day break from the bustle and noise, a chance to enjoy God’s presence and listen to His voice.”
In-person retreats include Mass and Eucharistic adoration, confession and spiritual direction, communal prayers and devotions, a private room and bathroom, meals and snacks.
“Take time to prepare your heart for the joyful hope of Jesus’ presence to come this Christmas,” Father Coulter said.
