Waverly (SNR) - “Come Let Us Adore Him” an Advent/Christmas 24-hour retreat will be led Dec. 17-18 by Father Gary Coulter, director of Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.

He said the retreat will focus on several of the people who invite us to enter into the Christmas story and enter into the Incarnation: Elizabeth and John the Baptist, Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds and Magi.

“Knowing the busyness that surrounds the Christmas preparations,” Father Coulter said, “I invite you to spend a day away from the bustle and noise, a time to enjoy God’s presence, listen to His voice, and thus prepare your heart for Jesus’ presence in our lives.”

While the reflections will be available via livestream, for those who come in person, there will be opportunities to meet with a priest one-on-one, join in the Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and communal prayers.

Father Coulter recommended for reading, and will use as resources, the books: “Joy to the World” by Scott Hahn and “Jesus of Nazareth: The Infancy Narratives” by Pope Benedict XVI.

This 24-hour retreat at Good Counsel Retreat House will begin with a rosary and Mass at 7 p.m. Friday, and end at 6 p.m. Saturday, with a vigil Mass and supper.

Other upcoming retreats include Encounter Ministries’ conference virtual watch party Dec. 27-29, a four-day directed Ignatian retreat Dec. 30-Jan. 2, “Men and Women are from Eden” Jan. 14-16, 2022 with Father Nathan Hall, and a Regnum Christi women’s Spiritual Exercises Jan. 20-23, with Father Owen Kearns, L.C.
