WESTON (SNR) – Supporters of St. John Nepomucene School in Weston may ring in the new year together – and help the school at the same time.

A “New Year’s Eve Celebration” will be held Dec. 31 at the Starlite Event Center, beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. and local band Route 66 will provide live music starting at 8 p.m.

The event is organized by the school’s PTA. Money raised from the event will support teachers and the operations of our school such as purchasing technology and curriculum taught in the classroom.

CK Catering owned by Clayton Kastl has provided the food at past events, and will continue this year with prime rib. The evening will include games and cash bar, in addition to the dinner and dancing.

Organizer Jennifer Potter said the idea of our New Year’s Celebration started in 2017 when there was no local event to attend for New Year’s. She said a group of parents of St. John Nepomucene students decided that hosting a New Year’s Eve party at the school’s gym would provide a fun, local event and possibly raise money for the school at the same time.

“The first two events were held in the school’s gym, but it was quickly outgrowing the space,” she said. “In 2019 a group of people consisting of some parents from St. John’s and other school supporters bought the Starlite Event Center. This provided the perfect venue for a bigger celebration.”

In December 2020 the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she said, “but it’s back this year.”

Tickets can be purchased at http://stjohnspta.ticketspice.com/newyearseve. The tickets are $50 for the meal and dance, and $20 for the dance only, beginning at 8 p.m.
