Retreat with Fr. Nathan Hall Jan. 14-16, 2022

WAVERLY (SNR) - Father Nathan Hall invites all to a weekend retreat Jan. 14-16 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly entitled “Men and Women are from Eden.”

The retreat will be a practical and spiritual look at God’s image and likeness expressed as male and female.

“When we understand the strengths and weaknesses of our sex and the other’s, it gives us true humility and a desire to collaborate,” said Father Hall. “Topics include differences between the sexes on processing, communicating and problem-solving.”

Father Hall recommends and will use as a resource the book by Dr. Mary Healy: “Men and Women are from Eden: A Study Guide to John Paul II’s Theology of the Body.”

Pope St. John Paul II gave a series of talks collectively known as his Theology of the Body, which examines how God created humanity as both male and female in Genesis, emphasizing the value and sanctity of marriage and the gift of sexuality. While both sexes are equal in dignity, the distinction between the two is a rich source of meditation.

Father Hall explained, “This retreat is for all who desire to know and love the great reality of how God created us as male and female. This is certainly helpful for a better Biblical understanding of marriage, but also helps us better understand being single or celibate.”

Therefore, he said, “I recommend this retreat for Catholics young and old, married or single. As a synthesis of scientific and theological study, the retreat will help those who seek God either through their head and/or through their heart.”

Father Nathan Hall is pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Roseland, Assumption in Roseland (Juniata) and a teacher at Hastings Catholic Schools. Ordained in 2016, he was parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish in Lincoln and St. Michael in Hastings. He has taught high school Church history, morality, and physics in Lincoln and Hastings.

In 2021, Father Hall became a chaplain for Eden Invitation, a ministry for Catholics and Christians who experience same-sex attraction and gender discordance.

Weekend retreats start Friday at 8 p.m. and conclude Sunday with Mass and lunch. Register online and see the full schedule of retreats at www.goodcounselretreat.org, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 402-786-2705.
