LINCOLN (SNR) – The Morning Star Chapter of Magnificat in Lincoln will hold its winter “Prayer Meal” Feb. 5, and invite and encourage all to attend.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Hillcrest Country Club, 9401 E. O St., Lincoln.
Father Allan Phan will be the speaker, and his theme is “Peace in surrendering to Love.”
Father Phan was born and raised in Lincoln, the youngest of six children. He grew up in a non-Christian family, but went to Sacred Heart Catholic School from Pre-K to 8th grade. He was taught about the love of God by the Marian Sisters and the love for prayer grew in his heart. He then went to North Star High School where, he said, he struggled with his belief in God, and fought against Him and any of His followers.
Father Phan credits much of his conversion and discernment to his “best friend,” Saint Francis of Assisi. Through St. Francis, Father Phan found the grace and inspiration to persevere for the Lord despite difficulties. He said he learned there is deep peace in surrendering to Love.
Father Phan is now assistant pastor at Sacred Heart Church and St. James School in Crete. He also teaches at Pius X High School in Lincoln. He is well known by many for his “Devotions with Daisy” videos he began making during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020. He taught his Goldendoodle dog Daisy to “pray” while he recorded spiritual nourishment and joy for his parishioners.
