WAVERLY (SNR) – Men and women of all ages who want to experience healing and freedom from the wounds and lies of the evil one are invited to an Unbound retreat the weekend of Aug. 26-28 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
The “Unbound: Freedom in Christ” retreat will be led by Father Gary Coulter, director of Unbound Ministry in the Diocese of Lincoln (lincolndiocese.org/unbound), and director of the retreat house.
“Unbound invites you,” Father Coulter said, “to experience the essential message of the Gospel, the kerygma, which truly is Good News: Jesus Christ comes to set us free from the slavery of sin and death, therefore we are invited to entrust ourselves to him in faith and repentance.”
Based on the book “Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance” by Neal Lozano, five keys enable people to respond to the Lord’s invitation to live in his freedom: repenting of sin and expressing faith in Jesus; forgiving oneself and others; renouncing the lies, spirits and tactics of Satan; taking authority over his works; and receiving the Father’s blessing.
Retreatants will have the opportunity to be prayed for using the five keys, but should read the first part of “Unbound” or watch the video series beforehand.
The Lincoln Diocese Unbound team will also host a basic ministry training video series on Thursdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 through Oct. 6, at the John XXIII Diocesan Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln.
