Retreat with Father Sean Kilcawley Sept. 30-Oct. 2
WAVERLY (SNR) – Father Sean Kilcawley will lead a weekend retreat, “Rebooting the Interior Life” starting Sept. 30 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
“Whenever my computer isn’t working quite right, the first thing I do is reboot it,” he said, “and for some reason it often solves the problem: too many processes going at the same time, an update that isn’t fully installed, or maybe it’s just been working too hard and the battery is overheating.
“In our own lives we can have the same issues,” he continued. “We take on too much or are thinking about too many things at once, we can forget to take the time to fully process new experiences or information, and sometimes we just feel burned out.”
He said the Sept. 30-Oct. 2 retreat is an opportunity to reboot spiritual lives: clear out the junk, get rid of the unnecessary processes running in the background, and refresh with the Lord.
The retreat’s conferences will focus on slowing down, in order to reestablish and renew friendship with Jesus. The retreat will focus on different forms of prayer, and offer a chance to pray with some of those things that are taking up too much space in one’s hearts and minds.
“Like every friendship, we sometimes need to intentionally start over with Him in order to move the relationship forward,” Father Kilcawley said.
Father Kilcawley was ordained a priest in 2005 and served as assistant pastor at St. Joseph and North American Martyrs parishes in Lincoln. He completed a License in Sacred Theology from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in 2013 and is a nationally recognized speaker on Theology of the Body, pornography addiction, and human love. He is currently the director of the Office of Marriage and Family and director of the Freedom from Pornography Apostolate for the Diocese of Lincoln.
