LINCOLN (SNR) – The Knights of Columbus Council 10510 and the Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW) of St. Peter Parish in Lincoln are collaborating with Rocket Carwash to raise funds for a local pregnancy center as they celebrate their second anniversary.

The Women’s Care Center (WCC) was founded in 1984 by Catholic theologian Dr. Janet Smith. It has grown to more than 30 centers in 12 states. The Lincoln location, 5632 S. 48th St., opened in December 2020. The organization provides free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, ongoing birth preparation and prenatal education, free vitamins, and referrals for medical care to help expectant mothers have healthier babies. After a baby is born, WCC provides parents with training and all the basic baby supplies to help the parents achieve better outcomes.

In their first two years in Lincoln, WCC has helped 598 babies with 12,559 items of tangible assistance like diapers, cribs, car seats, books and similar items. They have given 1,375 ultrasounds, and 92% of the mothers who received ultrasounds chose life. The organization’s 3-D ultrasound equipment was provided by local Lincoln Knights of Columbus Councils, with matching funds from the state and national Knights of Columbus organizations.

Purchasing Rocket Carwash vouchers from the Knights and PCCW at St. Peter Parish will support the work of the WCC. Each $10 voucher is redeemable for the business’s top wash – a $23.99 value – and 60% of the proceeds will be given to the WCC. The digital carwash vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and can be used at any Rocket Carwash location in the United States.

If 500 carwashes are sold, Rocket Carwash will add a $500 bonus. The Knights of Columbus will also match $600. If the goals are met, a total of $8.20 of each $10 purchase will be donated to the WCC.

The wash vouchers are digital and will be sent by text messages. To purchase vouchers, go to https://rocketcarwash.com/fundraiser/st-peters-knights-of-columbus-council-10510/ or scan the QR code above.

The fundraiser runs now through Feb. 15, 2023. With questions, call Gary Bouc 402-430-6303.

Bouc said the fundraiser was inspired by the Knights of Columbus Supreme headquarters, who introduced a new program titled “Assist and Support After Pregnancy” or ASAP. They and the Nebraska Council offered matching funds to increase the donations of local councils like St. Peter’s Council 10510.

“The St. Peter Parish Council of Catholic Women stepped up to help make the fundraiser even more successful,” he said.

“Help the Women’s Care Center in their quest to create better outcomes for babies, mothers, fathers, and their families,” Bouc encouraged. “Over time, they are enhancing the quality of our community for all of us.”
