Nebraska Right to Life (NRTL) will host its first ever “Gala” Jan. 27, the evening before the Walk for Life.
The Nebraska Walk for Life recalls the Jan. 22, 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which created a right to abortion throughout the U.S. for nearly 50 years. The walk is the largest, longest-running First Amendment demonstration against abortion in the state.
Walk participants will gather at the State Capitol at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, and walk to the UNL Student Union to hear a nationally known speaker. Thousands of pro-life supporters have gathered for this event since its inception in 1974.
Sandy Danek, NRTL executive director, said the gala is an opportunity to “celebrate the end of Roe v. Wade with fellow pro-life Nebraskans, honor life-saving pro-life efforts in our state, support the work of Nebraska Right to Life, and remember the lives ended by abortion.”
She said the idea for the event came about because NRTL wanted a broader audience to hear from the speaker for the Jan. 28 walk, Dr. John Bruchalski.
Bruchalski will describe how a return to his religious faith sparked a personal transformation from performing abortions to becoming a leader in pro-life medicine. He founded one of the largest pro-life medical practices in the nation in Fairfax, Va. His journey is described in his book, “Two Patients: My Conversion From Abortion to Life-Affirming Medicine.”
The Walk for Life Gala will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln. Tickets are available for purchase at https://nebraskarighttolife.ticketspice.com/2023. Tickets are $50/person. Tables and sponsorships are available.
