During Catholic Schools Week, students at St. Patrick Elementary School in McCook were challenged to competitions to help raise funds for the McCook Food Pantry.
Students participated in the annual “Penny War” between classrooms, as well as a new challenge to bring items for the pantry. Food pantry donations were worth points for each classroom, and each class was encouraged to raise 2,023 points. Some items, in greater need at the food pantry, carried higher point values.
Each class hit the target of 2,023 points – averaging more than five items per student.
In addition to all the food donated, St. Patrick students raised nearly $700 for the McCook Food Pantry.
