The annual fall play at Pius X High School in Lincoln will be presented “on tour” this year, as a new performing arts center is being constructed at the school.

The “Pius Players” will present “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” Oct. 16-19 at Lincoln Southwest High School Theater, 7001 S. 14th St. in Lincoln.

Director Sarah Moje shared a quote from the classic tale: “We may be poor, we may be starving, but the Bucket family always thinks positive.”

“This recurring line from the classic tale of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ serves as an inspiration for us all,” she said, “as we embrace the challenges the Lord allows in our lives – challenges that lead to conversion, salvation and His glory. The Pius X theater department is excited to embrace this philosophy as we embark on a new journey for the next two years.”

While the theater department is temporarily without a dedicated space to rehearse and perform, she said, “our mission to reclaim the arts for Christ remains strong.”

She expressed gratitude for the hospitality of Lincoln Southwest High School and use of its facilities.

“Come join us on this journey through Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory and be swept into the magical story of young Charlie Bucket and his ever-faithful hope and optimism,” she said. She called the play a “delicious tale, overflowing with charm, creativity, humor, and hope; a wonderful story for all ages.”

Tickets are reserved for seating and are available in advance through the Pius X website, www.piusx.net, or at the door. Show times are Oct. 16, 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Southwest High School Theater.
