All men seeking a deeper encounter with Christ are invited to attend Men’s Spiritual Exercises, a preached retreat with Regnum Christi, Dec. 11–14, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
The retreat will be led by Father Fergal Ó Dúill, L.C., a priest of the Legionaries of Christ.
Based on the classic Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the retreat offers men the opportunity to reflect on the core truths of the Christian faith, with a focus on imitating Christ more closely. Through guided meditations, silence, adoration, confessions, daily Mass, the rosary, and spiritual direction, participants will experience profound renewal and encounter the Lord in a personal way.
The weekend retreat begins Friday, Dec. 12, with 5 p.m. check-in, a 6 p.m. social, and the opening conference at 7 p.m. The retreat will conclude at noon on Sunday.
Men are also welcome to arrive earlier for an optional Thursday evening dinner and overnight stay, as well as a full-day formation conference on Friday (7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.), prior to the main retreat.
Latin for “Kingdom of Christ,” Regnum Christi is a federation within the Catholic Church that fosters a Christ-centered spirituality. It emphasizes living in communion with fellow members, in unity with the Church, and engaging in a mission to build Christ’s kingdom on earth. Regnum Christi has more than 25,000 members in 38 countries worldwide.
“This retreat is not only for Regnum Christi members,” said Father Gary Coulter, director of Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House. “It is open to men of all ages and backgrounds who desire to grow closer to Christ.”
