Several years ago, Father Fulton, then executive director of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, shared with us in his Messages of Hope article, “A Litany of Thanksgiving,” which he received from the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (Pink Sisters) in Lincoln.
It’s one of those powerful litanies that fills our hearts and minds with a sense of purpose. It’s a litany that invites us to reflect and be thankful for all that we have been given – and all that has been taken from us. It’s a reminder that God has a plan for each and every one of us. It’s a litany that reminds us to trust in Him and to love Him without reservation, so that one day we will be with Him at our eternal home in heaven.
May God bless you for all that you have done for the poor and vulnerable throughout the year whether it was a prayer, a monetary donation, or an act of service. Thank you!
On behalf of us all at Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, we wish you a blessed, safe, and happy Thanksgiving!
A Litany of Thanksgiving
For all You have given me,
My God, I thank You.
For all you have withheld,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have withdrawn,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have permitted,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have prevented,
My God, I thank You.
For all the sincere friends You have given me,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have forgiven me,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have prepared for me,
My God, I thank You.
For the death You have chosen for me,
My God, I thank You.
For the place You are keeping for me in Heaven,
My God, I thank You.
For having created me to love You for eternity,
My God, I thank You.
My God, I thank You for all things.
And may I live and die
thanking You.
Amen.
