Did you know that for the first time, Nebraska taxpayers can make a more significant impact while benefiting from the Nebraska Pregnancy Help Act? The Act offers a nonrefundable tax credit for cash contributions to approved pregnancy help organizations, including Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska (CSS).

Understanding the Nebraska Pregnancy Help Act
In 2024, the Nebraska Legislature authorized nonrefundable tax credits for Nebraska taxpayers who generously donate to approved pregnancy help organizations, including the St. Gianna Program at CSS. The act aims to encourage private giving and to support organizations that provide vital assistance to women and families facing under-supported pregnancy situations.

How it works
Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Nebraska taxpayers can make a significant impact, while reducing their income tax liability. By contributing to approved pregnancy help organizations, they can qualify for a nonrefundable tax credit. This credit can offset a portion of their Nebraska income tax, making their donations even more impactful.

Why participate?
The Nebraska Pregnancy Help Act offers a unique opportunity for individuals and businesses to support life-affirming care for women and babies, while benefiting from tax incentives. By contributing to the St. Gianna program, donors can directly help women by helping CSS as we provide safe housing, counseling services, education classes, material assistance such as diapers, formula, and clothing for moms and kids, and so much more!

How to participate
Donating is easy. Simply fill out the short form on our website at csshope.org/taxcredit and include your intended donation amount. CSS will handle the paperwork and submit your request to the Nebraska Department of Revenue. Once approved, you will be notified and have 60 days to make your donation.

Make an impact
By donating to CSS, you are supporting life-affirming care, reducing your tax burden, and creating a lasting impact on our community, making a real difference in the lives of women and families in need.

To further understand the impact of your contribution, we invite you to listen to our recent “Hope in the Good Life” podcast featuring Marion Miner, associate director of pro-life and family policy at the Nebraska Catholic Conference, and Dr. John Crotty, CSS board member, interviewed by John Soukup, CSS development officer. In the discussion, Miner encouraged donors to put their pro-life values into action, while Dr. Crotty emphasized the importance of love and fulfilling our obligation to care for mothers and children. He highlighted how Nebraska legislators and the governor have paved the way for us to provide crucial support to those in need.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to supporting mothers and their children. May God bless you!

P.S.
Please know that the tax credits are limited at $500,000 this year, and they are going fast. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact John Soukup at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or (402) 560-5014.
