Father William Holoubek, director of the Diocesan Mission Office, celebrated a special Mass in the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln Oct. 18, to mark World Mission Sunday. The annual observation raises funds for the world’s missionary dioceses through the Pontifical Mission Societies.

Catholics were invited to attend in ancestral dress, and groups visited with people about their cultures after Mass. The Mass was preceded by praying the World Mission Rosary, designed in 1951 by Blessed Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, longtime director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. The rosary was created to pray for the missions and for evangelization.
