The Diocesan Niobrara Canoe Trips down the Niobrara River began in 1995 under the direction of Fr. Ronald Homes. The canoe trips are open to high school youth (sophomores, juniors, seniors) and college students. Adults are also invited along as sponsors/drivers. Locations for carpooling from different areas of the diocese will be provided closer to departure. THERE IS NO BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR THIS EVENT. Parents will need to provide transportation to the campsite or join a carpool.
Fr. Homes continues to direct the Canoe Trips with the assistance of the Youth Ministry Office. Nearly 200 participants from all over the Diocese partake in one of two different canoe trips. This three-day outdoor adventure includes daily Mass, confessions, talks, private reflection time, and other opportunities for youth to grow in their relationship with Christ. A Campfire, skits and rosary fill the evening hours.
