Homework Outline

This class gives an introduction to the concept of social justice. It defines social justice as giving the individuals and groups in society their due according to one’s relationship with them. Activities are interspersed in the lesson to give the students an opportunity to recognize the various relationships that make up society and to discuss concrete social justice issues about which they are already aware. Four types of justice are then defined: commutative, distributive, legal and general. With this foundation, an introduction to the Church’s social teaching is given and summarized in the response of the individual to observe, judge and act. A homework outline is provided for student notes.
