WAVERLY (SNR) - Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly invites all men and women to three-day or four-day directed silent Ignatian retreats Aug. 31-Sept. 4.

The heart of the Ignatian Retreat involves spending four or five prayer periods each day in meditation on Scripture. Thus the real director of an Ignatian Retreat is the Holy Spirit. Based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, Father Gary Coulter and Father Christopher Barak will be the retreat masters, directing the retreatants in choosing Scripture passages each day for meditation.

Retreatants reflects on their prayer times and the movements that occurred there, so that when they meet with the director, they can be given guidance and appropriate scripture passages for their meditation.

This retreat, Labor Day weekend, begins Friday at 7 p.m., and retreatants have the option to make a three-day retreat concluding Sunday, or a four-day retreat, ending Monday. The retreat ends with a noon lunch on the chosen final day.

Several directed, silent Ignatian retreats are included on the retreat house schedule. Four-day retreats will be held March 18-21 and July 1-9, 2019. An eight-day retreat will be held and July 10-18, 2019.
