LINCOLN - The third annual Diocese of Lincoln Sacred Music Clinic had an attendance of roughly 90 people Aug. 24-25.

Musicians came from as far west as Grant, and even a few from other dioceses as well. Attendees were choir directors, choir members, music teachers, as well as a good number of religious sisters, brothers, and priests. Parishes represented ranged in size from the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln, with 1,400 registered families, to small mission parishes throughout rural Nebraska.

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz’s “Reflections on the Second Vatican Council” and Father Justin Wylie’s “Psalmody and the Psalter” were popular sessions during the breakouts offered. Other sessions offered were the plenary session, “Chants of the Funeral Liturgy,” as well as “Latin Pronunciation,” “More Chants of the Funeral Liturgy,” “Learning to Read and Use Chant,” “Connecting with Your Choir Members,” and an open question-and-answer session.

Attendees were able to join one of two choirs which were able to sing sacred music in either English or Latin for the closing Mass celebrated by Bishop Bruskewitz.
