The Nebraska Catholic Day of Giving is underway. Advance giving started April 20 with the actual Day of Giving May 6.

The annual fundraising event is a combined effort by the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln, the Catholic Diocese of Grand Island and the Archdiocese of Omaha.

Last year, the effort raised more than $1 million from nearly 2,500 people for Catholic parishes, schools and ministries across the state. Donors may contribute to any of the registered organizations in each of the (arch)dioceses. This is the third year for the joint fundraising event.

“This is another great way to support our parishes, schools and ministries across all of Nebraska,” said Dennis Kellogg, director of communications for the Diocese of Lincoln. “Many of the organizations participating have very specific needs they are looking to address, and this is a way people can make a difference for those organizations.”

Those wishing to donate can go to www.nebraskacatholicdayofgiving.org, click on one of the dioceses, and then review the organizations participating this year. The Lincoln Diocese has approximately 40 organizations taking part. There are, in total, 116 entities.
