‘St. John Chrysostom and the Mysteries of Marriage’
Lincoln (SNR/NI) – The 2018 “Reborn in Wonder” series kicks off with a lecture by Mike Aquilina entitled “One Flesh of Purest Gold: St. John Chrysostom and the Mysteries of Marriage” Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.
The event is hosted by the Newman Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture and will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, 320 N. 16th St., Lincoln. It is free and open to the public.
“Mike Aquilina brings to life the riches of Catholic thought and culture,” said Dr. John Freeh, Newman Institute director. “His interests are wide-ranging and his knowledge encyclopedic. He is able, time and again, to connect with audiences of all backgrounds. We are excited to welcome him among this year’s speakers.” 
All members of the community and beyond are invited to the lecture, which will be followed by questions and refreshments.
Aquilina is the author of more than 50 books on Catholic history, doctrine, and devotion including “The Fathers of the Church” (2006); “The Mass of the Early Christians” (2007); “The Resilient Church” (2007); “Living the Mysteries” (2003); and “What Catholics Believe” (1999). He is executive vice-president of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology and a contributing editor for Angelus News.
He has hosted 10 television series and two documentary films. Mike edited the Pittsburgh Catholic newspaper (1993-1996) and New Covenant magazine (1997-2002). He is also a songwriter whose works have been recorded by Grammy Award-winners Dion and Paul Simon. He and his wife Terri have been married since 1985. They have six children and two grandchildren.
