LINCOLN (SNR) – The Family Life Office and Natural Family Planning teachers of the Lincoln Diocese will present a daylong retreat for high school girls March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Dawson Hall at the John XXIII Diocesan Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln.
The new program capitalizes and expands upon the popular mother/daughter program and is intended for high school-aged girls.
Topics that will be covered include the neuroscience of social media use, understanding and appreciating one’s body, the particular dignity of women, and healthy dating habits. There will be time for socializing and discussion, as well as Eucharistic adoration and confession.
The event is designed to explore the question: What does it mean to be strong, dignified, and fearless as a teenage girl living in modern times? it is based on the verse, “She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.” (Proverbs 31:25)
The program will be followed by an optional introductory session for the Creighton Model of NFP if any young ladies are interested in learning – mothers are required to attend the introductory session with their teenager.
Presenters will be Bekah Knobeloch and Megan McDermott, both Marquette Method instructors, and Lauren Bassinger, FertilityCare practitioner.
“Being a teenage girl has never been easy,” Knobeloch said, “but there are unique challenges facing young women today. We are thrilled at this opportunity to empower and encourage these high school women. We have unique journeys to share about embracing our feminine strength, and we hope the young ladies can walk away feeling confident, supported and loved.”
Lunch will be included. More information and sign up can be found at https://lincolndiocese.regfox.com/hsgirlsretreat. Questions may be directed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 402-473-0630.
