Live-stream at home Sunday, April 19
WAVERLY (SNR) - All are invited to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday with an afternoon of reflection by Father John Rooney and seminarians of the Diocese, to help participants be immersed in the bountiful ocean of God’s mercy, while staying at home, as they watch and pray via live-stream.
Presented on Divine Mercy Sunday April 19, there will be quiet time for meditation after scriptural talks at 1 and 2 p.m. Then participants may join the seminarians of the diocese during the 3 p.m. Hour of Mercy for a preached Holy Hour of Adoration and Divine Mercy devotions led by seminarians, with music by the seminarian choir.
In his three talks, Father Rooney will teach the message of Divine Mercy using the “ABC’s of Mercy”:
A - Ask for His Mercy. Jesus is constantly offering us His love and mercy. He never tires of waiting for us to ask for forgiveness, as he extends forgiveness for all of our sins.
B - Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. Jesus asks us to show mercy and forgiveness to others – to our families, co-workers, friends, and even to ourselves.
C - Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive, and we can find a peace that no one else can give.
Father Rooney is vice-rector and an assistant professor at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward, the college seminary for the Diocese of Lincoln. He has served a number of parish assignments and diocesan ministries during his 31 years as a priest, most recently as pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Shelby.
The virtual retreat can be followed on any computer, tablet or phone with internet. The suggested free-will donation is $20 (or $30 for a family/multiple devices), which will include recordings if one misses a session.
Registration is required to receive the live streaming, but a donation is not required. All free-will donations support Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly, whose mission is to create a place of sanctuary for people to encounter Christ.
