Day retreat with Fr. Morin Saturday, May 16: online or in person

WAVERLY (SNR) – Father James Morin will lead a retreat Saturday, May 16 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.

Participants may attend in person, or online.

The retreat will be recorded and available via livestream and on-demand for those unable to attend in person.

“Everyone needs a chance to step away from the burdens and monotony of their day-to-day lives to reconnect with God,” Father Morin said. “This day of recollection will provide people with an opportunity to turn away from boredom and anxiety and rediscover the God who knows and loves them.”

Father Morin grew up in Lincoln at St. Teresa Parish. He attended St. Gregory the Great Seminary and the North American College and was ordained in 2016. He has served as the assistant pastor of St. Mary Parish in Nebraska City and currently is the assistant pastor of St. Cecilia Parish in Hastings.

The online Saturday retreat will begin with a 9 a.m. conference and 11 a.m. Mass, followed by a 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. conference concluding with Benediction. Registration is required to participate in the live-stream, a free-will donation is asked but not required. Instructions on how to make an at-home retreat will be provided.

Individuals who attend a retreat in person have a private room and bathroom, and will follow social distancing guidelines with their own table at meals and their own pew in the chapel (for each family, if members of a household attend the retreat together). The retreat house staff is disinfecting all surfaces each day, and asks individuals not to attend if they are sick, have been exposed, or are at a high risk. There will be a full refund, or option to transfer to another retreat, if a scheduled participant is unable to attend a retreat.

Upcoming online retreats for men and women will be held May 22-23, “Building Family Relationships,” by Peter and Debbie Herbeck of Renewal Ministries; and May 30, “A Quarantine Retreat with the Book of Job” (Bilingual Retiro con el Libro de Job) by Father Evan Winter. Learn more at goodcounselretreat.org, This email address is being protected from spambots.
