Waverly (SNR) – Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House invites all to “Abide in His Love” with a Friday-Saturday online retreat with Bart Schuchts of the John Paul II Healing Center June 12-13, on the gospel of John chapter 15.
The gospel reads, “as the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.” (John 15:9) Jesus’ words here could also be read as, ‘abide in my love,’ or ‘abide in my heart.’
Bart Schuchts invites all to know the Father’s love for his Son, and Christ’s love for each person. The gospel is a call receive His love, and stay – or abide – there. It is a process of prayer, gratitude, and reflection to abide in His heart, Schuchts said, but it is a path of healing, joy and peace, amidst the difficulties of life.
Bart Schuchts is passionate about leading people to encounter the Father’s love, as he himself experienced while in the NFL.
As St. Augustine writes, “The entire life of a good Christian is in fact an exercise of holy desire. You do not yet see what you long for, but the very act of desiring prepares you, so that when he comes you may see and be utterly satisfied.”
“This retreat will be an opportunity to reflect on the desires of your heart, and let the Father speak about the desires of His heart,” Schuchts said. “What dreams live in your heart? In His heart? And where do the two intersect?”
Guided reflection questions will be provided to contemplate, to dream about what life will be like when all wounds are healed, sufferings are over, fears banished. Participants are invited to dream about the fullness of life that Jesus gives.
Bart is a regular speaker at conferences and retreats, including the “Healing the Whole Person” conference held at St. Peter Church in Lincoln last July. He’s been married for more than 20 years and has four children.
The John Paul II Healing Center promotes and inspires transformation in the heart of the Church through conferences and resources that have touched the lives of thousands of people, helping people transform their lives and activate the fullness of their sacramental graces by healing and equipping for the New Evangelization.
