LINCOLN (SNR) - Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln will host its second annual memorial golf tournament at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln Aug. 17.

The purpose of the tournament is to help families in need of burial assistance, and to continually beautify and improve the cemetery.

Msgr. Timothy Thorburn, director of Calvary Cemetery, said there is definitely a need for burial assistance for families in the Diocese of Lincoln.

“We are committed to helping families through a very stressful time, both emotionally and financially,” he said. “There are also constant areas to improve and beautify the cemetery, which provides comfort knowing their loved ones are well taken care of.”

Golfers can tee off Monday, Aug. 17. Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start scheduled for 1 p.m. The tournament can accommodate up to 120 golfers or 30 foursomes. Firethorn is a competitive golf course to challenge golfers and there will be many prizes to compete for.

There are a range of sponsorship opportunities, such as lunch sponsor, memorial flag sponsors, team sponsors, hole sponsorships and non-golfers may donate.
