WAVERLY (SNR) – For those looking for spiritual conversion through prayer and a deepening of their baptism, Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House invites men and women of all ages to “Unbound: Freedom in Christ,” a weekend retreat Feb. 5-7 led by Father William Holoubek.
Father Holoubek, who has been involved with the Unbound Ministry since 2014, said the retreat “flows from my own experience of the trials of life and my desire to experience freedom. It helps people have a true encounter with Jesus’ merciful love and power to save.”
Father Holoubek invites those who have been wounded by sin and the trials of life; those who feel stuck and desire the true freedom and joy that the Gospel can give. One cannot change the past, he said, but rather bring God into those areas of brokenness and wounds.
“This retreat is a joy for me to present,” he said, “as so many people receive healing of past hurts they never thought possible. “They receive the tools to deal with life’s ongoing challenges with the personal help of Jesus.”
Unbound is a way of prayer, using five keys that empowers a person to open their hearts and respond more fully to Jesus’s invitation of an abundant life. The conference talks will help retreatants find freedom through “Repentance, Forgiveness and Renunciation.” There will also be talks on “Staying Free” and “Receiving the Father’s Blessing.”
Those interested in the retreat are invited to read Neal Lozano’s book “Unbound” and those who have read the first nine chapters of Lozano’s book, or watched his video series, will have an opportunity to be individually prayed with on the retreat using the five keys.
Ordained 24 years, Father Holoubek is pastor of St. Mary in Ashland and St. Joseph in Greenwood. He is also director of the Diocesan Mission Office and a teacher at Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly strives to ensure the safety of retreatants and staff with additional cleaning and sanitizing, limited occupancy and social distancing, including during the individual prayer sessions.
Retreats are being held both in person and virtually, through live-stream or on-demand recordings so those who want to participate at home can also experience the retreat and request prayer via Zoom.
Other upcoming retreats for men and women will be Sat. Jan. 23, “Finding Joy in Prayer” online retreat with Kendra Von Esh; Feb. 26-28 “Living His Life Abundantly” with Johnnette Benkovic Williams, and numerous private directed Ignatian retreats.
