(SNR) – Father Steven Major will lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land Oct. 10-21.
Father Major was ordained for the Diocese of Lincoln in 1987 and is currently pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Hebron. He invites people to “join me in this once-in-a-lifetime journey through Jordan and Israel, walk in His footsteps, and those of His Holy Mother and the Apostles.
“We will visit his birthplace in Bethlehem, and the living history site of his hometown of Nazareth,” he said. “We will have the opportunity to wade in the waters of the Jordan River where John baptized Christ, visit Bethsaida where the loaves and fishes were multiplied, swim in the Dead Sea, and take a cruise on the Sea of Galilee.
“We will stand on the steps of the Judgment Hall of Pilate where Christ was condemned to death, and visit the House of Caiaphus where he was tortured,” he continued.
It also includes visits to many Biblical sites including the Garden of Gethsemane and the opportunity to walk along the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem. On the final day, the trip will culminate with a stop at Golgotha (the place of skulls) and the Garden Tomb.
“Although our itinerary obviously emphasizes the spiritual aspect of Jordan and Israel,” Father Major said, “our local guide is also an expert and is passionate about the may historical sites in Israel, and the miracle of the return of the Jews and the restoration of the state of Israel. This fact, along with many modern-day topics… will be woven into the commentary in order to give you well-rounded information and a great insight into today’s life in both countries.”
Mass and confession will be available daily, and Father Major will lead devotions where appropriate.
The price for the trip, per person in shared double room is $3,595. A limited number of single rooms are available at $4,595, with an additional $1,425 for airfare. For a full brochure of the itinerary, go to Executivetravel.com and click “escorted tours” under the “vacations” link.
