Q. How soon should a child be baptized after birth?
A. A very good question, thank you for asking it.
The baptism of a child, which is his or her entry into the divine life of Jesus Christ, is a time of celebration and joy for families. Very often, the baptism of the child is a time for the gathering of family, the recognition of an invitation to the life of grace, and the opportunity to teach and form a child of God as a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ordinarily, it is expected that a child should be baptized as soon as it is convenient for the family. As families want to celebrate a baptism, very often the scheduling of the sacrament involves travel and work schedules, and the desire to get things together to truly make baptism a celebration.
