Dec 3-5 Retreat with Emmaus Institute
WAVERLY (SNR) – The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies will offer a weekend retreat Dec. 3-5 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
The retreat, for men and women, will focus on the ‘O Antiphons’ of Advent.
Vern Steiner, director of the Emmaus Institute, explained the topic, “Awaiting Emmanuel: The ‘O Antiphons’ of Advent.”
“Drawn from Isaiah’s prophecies of the coming Messiah, each of the seven O Antiphons highlights a title for the One whose advent we anticipate,” he said.
“As we explore the rich biblical significance of each of the Antiphons, let us pray for a renewed heartfelt response, best uttered in a holy and breathtaking ‘O’!”
Vern Steiner, Chad Steiner and Joshua Burks will deliver talks developing each of the Old Testament themes, examining how Jesus is the fulfillment, and how this applies to the reality of life today.
With an eye toward encountering Christ, this retreat will include opportunities for Mass, prayer, confessions, formation, discussion, and more. The retreat will begin with a 7 p.m. rosary and First Friday Mass, and close with Sunday Mass, followed by lunch.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a peaceful atmosphere of prayer and recollection, situated on a spacious acreage near Waverly. The facility includes 50 single rooms, each with a private bath.
Other upcoming retreats include an online series held Mondays of Advent, “Learning to Trust with Connie Rossini”; a Regnum Christi men’s retreat Dec. 9-12; and a 24-hour Advent retreat, “Come Let Us Adore Him” with Father Gary Coulter Dec. 17-18.
