LINCOLN (SNR) – Worldwide FertilityCare Week, celebrated March 20-26 this year, is an annual week-long celebration of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System (CrMS) and NaProTechnology.
Centers participate in a variety of ways to promote the system through open houses, special events, presentations and more, focusing on a specific theme. The theme for 2022 Worldwide FertilityCare Week is “Unveiling the Goodness, Beauty, and Truth of our Fertility with the Creighton Model FertilityCare System.”
In the Diocese of Lincoln, all women – single, engaged, or married – are invited to learn more about the Creighton Model at www.lincolndiocese.org/nfp/fertility-care-center or by contacting Kealey Butler at 402-473-0630 or This email address is being protected from spambots. NaProTechnology, a form of medical science that sees fertility as a normal and healthy process, works in conjunction with the Creighton Model FertilityCare System. The Creighton Model is a method of natural family planning that allows women to learn and understand the naturally occurring phases of fertility and infertility. It relies on the standardized observations and recording of various biological markers that are essential to women's gynecologic and reproductive health.
Most people know married couples can choose to use the system to postpone a pregnancy in a manner consistent with the moral standards of Christ's Church. But many are unaware that NaProTechnology can also help identify problems and cooperate with the menstrual and fertility cycles to correct conditions, maintain human ecology, and sustain procreative potential. NaProTechnology includes treatment of infertility and other reproductive disorders, abnormal bleeding, PMS, ovarian cysts, maintaining pregnancy, treating postpartum depression, and many more conditions.
One diocesan client – called “Mary” to maintain her family’s privacy – shared her story.
“When my husband and I married, we knew we wanted to have a large family. It was something we spoke frequently of, we talked all about our plans to have the house, the kids, the jobs we were meant to have; our dream,” she said. “One year into marriage, we were still childless.”
The couple began seeking medical opinion after this first year and no issues were found. After years two and three when they were still without child, they sought further evaluations.
“There were surgeries, countless pokes and jabs for bloodwork, several pills and shots for medications without the fruitful result we were looking for,” Mary said, only to be diagnosed with “unexplained infertility.”
In the fifth year of their marriage, the couple began seeking treatment with physicians trained in NaProTechnology “and finally began to see some answers.”
While this personal testimony highlighted seeking treatment for infertility – and later, miscarriage – many women are looking for treatment of things like ovarian cysts, endometriosis, unusual bleeding, postpartum depression, premenstrual syndrome, PCOS, etc.
“We had more information about what could be the problem in just one cycle of charting than we had in all the years of very little testing and research,” Mary said. “We began some treatments in cycle two and conceived soon afterward.”
Mary continued, “Without our trained FertilityCare practitioner and NaProTechnology, we may never have been blessed with the children we have on earth and in heaven. My FCP provided a safe and comfortable space to share the overwhelming emotions, concerns, fears, and grief that infertility can bring. She provided us with answers that allowed us to feel respected as individuals and as a married couple. It improved my overall health – no more PMS headaches, fatigue, or pain – lifestyle, and marriage. It's given us answers and hope for the future.”
