A Lenten retreat with Father Brian Connor March 25-27
WAVERLY (SNR) - Father Brian Connor, pastor of North American Martyrs Parish in Lincoln invites all to a Lenten retreat “The Holy Spirit in Daily Life” March 25-27 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
Father Connor will draw on his life experiences, study of the Holy Spirit in Scripture, recent papal writings and other authors including Father Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap., Father Andrew Apostoli, C.F.R., Archbishop Luis Martinez and Father Dominic Hoffman O.P. No prior study or experience is needed, he said, only an open heart for the Holy Spirit.
The retreat is a chance to discover the Holy Spirit more deeply in one’s own daily walk with Christ. All are invited to come on this Lenten retreat that will help highlight how God works subtly through promptings.
The retreat will provide quiet times for individual prayer to ruminate on God’s word and the conferences. Music will also be integrated into the prayer times.
Father Connor has been a priest for 33 years and pastor for 27 years. Before coming to North American Martyrs, he was pastor at St. Francis in rural David City while superintendent at Aquinas and St. Mary schools.
The weekend retreat starts with wine, charcuterie, cheese and crackers Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m. to celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation, and ends Sunday with noon lunch. The retreat is available in person at the retreat house or at home, by live stream and on-demand recordings.
In-person retreats include meditations by the retreat master, the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, the Liturgy of the Hours and other devotions, extended opportunities for silence and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. A spirit of silence outside of meals and social hours will be expected.
