(SNR) – Father Brian Wirth, diocesan moderator for Catholic Rural Life (CRL), in partnership with the Diocese of Salina, Kan. CRL chapter, will lead a virtual novena to St. Isidore the Farmer May 6-14.

Participants may join Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Bishop Jerry Vincke of Salina, Father Wirth and other priests and deacons from both respective dioceses in prayer.

In his April 29 column, Bishop Conley shared the experiences of pastors in Lincoln Diocese parishes who were affected by recent wildfires amidst a severe drought.

“I have an urgent plea for all,” he said. “Please pray for rain…. Meteorologists have forecasted that many parts of Nebraska will remain in a very substantial drought. This drought will cause serious problems for crops and livestock as we move into the summer if we do not receive increased moisture.”

The novena prayers will be presented in a Zoom call. The Zoom link will be open 15 minutes early each day for people to get logged in and situated before the prayers begin.

Concluding the novena Monday, May 16, St. John the Baptist Parish in Hanover, Kan., will host a Mass celebrated by Bishop Vincke at 11a.m., followed by a lunch for all participants.
