Lourdes Central campaign seeks $3.7 million to support growth

NEBRASKA CITY – Lourdes Central Catholic School in Nebraska City recently announced an ambitious campaign with a $3.7 million fundraising goal.

The campaign, titled “Future Full of Hope,” will help the school meet its operational needs, grow its endowment and ensure a Catholic education is accessible and affordable in Nebraska City and surrounding communities.

Lourdes Central opened in 1861, and serves students in pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade. The school’s mission is “to assist parents in the development of their children by providing a Christ-centered environment which promotes spiritual, academic and social growth in order to prepare students for active participation in the Church, in their families and in society.”

A $1.85 million lead gift has already been committed toward the campaign by the Ryan Foundation, reflecting its confidence in the school’s strategic plan and in the school community.

“The spirit of this important initiative is to ensure that our school remains financially strong into the future,” said Father Jonathan Haschke, chief administrative officer at Lourdes Central. “In order to provide a transformative student experience, we also must attract and retain the very best teachers, provide them with the tools necessary to deliver a superior education and maintain our facilities.”

Lourdes is working to fundraise the remaining $1.85 million of its goal over the next three years. Father Haschke said the Future Full of Hope is an investment that will be paid forward to the community in many ways for years to come.

Campaign funding priorities will support the Lourdes Tuition Assistance Fund; K-12 campus ministry and faith formation programs and retreats; program enhancements for math and phonics; program enhancements for art education; KnightsCare, extended preschool and PreK, after-school care and daycare; and facility repairs and safety improvements. The campaign also aims to help Lourdes Central attract and retain quality faculty and staff at all grade levels.
