WAVERLY – Father Eric Clark will present a “Becoming Apostles of Mercy” retreat Jan. 13-15 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.

“Mercy is the greatest attribute of God and once we receive it, we are called to be merciful to others,” he said.

During the retreat, there will be time for participants to reflect upon how mercy has changed their lives by God’s forgiveness, and allowing themselves to forgive others. Father Clark said a key attribute to showing mercy and being the face of God is understanding the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

“As one in need of mercy myself, I want to share this great message with others,” he explained. Retreatants will get the chance to read Biblical stories of mercy, the Diary of St. Faustina, and St. John Paul II’s encyclical on mercy, Dives in Misericordia.

The retreat will be an opportunity to behold the merciful face of God, and for others to become the face of God themselves through encountering His mercy.

Father Clark was ordained in 2014. His first assignment was at St. Michael Parish in Lincoln. He also taught at Pius X High School. He then served three years at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln as master of ceremonies and director of diocesan appeals. Since 2020 he has served as pastor of St. Peter in Lincoln.
